about

"Jumping between traditional folk, country, and pop while combining it with brushes of Hawaiian and Caribbean melodies, quirky indie, and jazz swing, the album presents a band that works just as well together as on their own. While each artist showcases their own individual talent throughout, it is the true testament to collective ingenuity that raises the recording, exhibiting songwriters comfortable enough in their own shoes to start filling each others." - VIEW MAGAZINE

"With each performer bouncing from singing to playing - guitar, drums, bass, piano, organ, harmonica, pedal steel, and accordion - the individual and collective pool of talent is incredible." - ROCKY MOUNTAIN OUTLOOK

Inspired by Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue, Kate Maki invited Ruth Minnikin, Dale Murray, Ryan Levecque, and Nathan Lawr to tour across Canada in the winter of 2005 as a travelling band of singing songwriters known as "A Midwinter Night's Dream". From coast to coast, they took turns as lead singer while the others acted as back up on drums, bass, guitar, piano, organ, pedal steel, accordion, banjo, harmonica, and harmonies. The tour was such a great success that the singers banded together again for another tour known as "A Midautumn Night's Dream" in the fall of 2005. Before the self-booked 30 date tour, a ten song album was recorded live off the floor in one day, packaged in hand-drawn, handmade sleeves, and sold exclusively off stage. The album sold out on tour, but is now available here for download.
