Lose My Mind 02:22
Lose My Mind I am bound to lose my mind Watch me fall I am bound to lose my mind Watch me fall To the black and endless sky I am darkness in your eye And I am bound to lose my mind I am bound to lose my mind Watch me fall I am bound to lose my mind Watch me fall To the red hot drifting sands I am fire in your hands And I am bound to lose my mind
2.
The Signal 02:58
The Signal When the signal finds your heart You will come undone Veins like webs they fall apart And you will come undone Dress you up, lay you down In the morning sun Like the rock beneath the sea You will come undone When the band begins to play I will come undone Vines like arms they break away I will come undone Dress me up, take me down In the morning sun Like the sand beneath my feet I will come undone When the signal finds your heart You will come undone Veins like webs they fall apart And you will come undone Dress you up, lay you down In the morning sun Like the rain upon the ground Falling one by one

Hanging On 03:26
Hanging On In midwinter when the sun goes down We roll on into town You call to us from the mountain tops Like the devil calls to lust You say Dream on dream on You keep hanging on Dream on dream on You keep hanging on In midsummer when the sun is high The world rolls on by I call your name from the valley low Like thunder calls to rain You say Dream on dream on You keep hanging on Dream on dream on You keep hanging on

Shine On My Mind Asleep in the daytime Asleep in the nighttime Wide awake when the whole world has gone down Living in a nightmare Waiting for a daydream Waiting for the sunshine To shine on my mind And shut it down Awake in the daytime Awake in the nighttime Fast asleep when the whole world has gone down Living in a daydream Waiting for a nightmare Waiting for the moonshine To shine on my mind And shut it down Shine on my mind And shut it down

Fade To Grey 02:52
Fade To Grey Your days are spent with no one And no one is spent on you How many nights can you waste away Before you fade to grey They’re knocking on your front door They’re writing on your wall How many lies can you hide behind Before you’re colour blind Get up get out get going Get lost get gone get away Get light get high Get way up in the sky There are things you want to tell them And things you want to hear How many ways can you fight the waves Before you float away Get up get out get going Get lost get gone get away Get light get high Get way up in the sky

Boredom Blues My papa wants a yacht, my momma wants a jag But I’m in slow motion and my life’s a drag My sister rides a pony My best friend is gone I stay out all night and I sleep all day long My boyfriend wants a lover He’s down on a bended knee It’s hard to make things happen with a girl like me My papa wants a yacht, my momma wants a jag But I’m in slow motion and my life’s a drag My girlfriend is a midwife My roommate’s a slob I’ve got good intentions, but I can’t hold a job My cat wanders lonely My patience is wearing thin I wish I had some money, I’d do that sucker in My papa wants a yacht, my momma wants a jag But I’m in slow motion and my life’s a drag

Fought The Cattle I climbed a mountain, jumped a fence Climbed a tree, jumped a river To get you to see, to get you to see Darkness comes and you can’t see Darkness comes to rescue me I took a job, fought the cattle Took a test, fought the battle To get you to see, to get you to see Darkness comes and you can’t see Darkness comes to rescue me I sold my name, broke my back Sold my key, broke my vow To get you to see, to get you to see Darkness comes and you can’t see Darkness comes to rescue me
8.
Golden Thorns I’m not that innocent I’ll testify Lean in and listen I’ll tell you why Ten years today I stole an angel’s halo Placed it on the vine Watched the golden thorns grow I’m not that innocent I’ll testify Lean in and listen I’ll tell you why Saw a man in armour Resting on the pavement Took his sword Locked him in the basement There’s nothing I can do To keep away from you
9.
When I Go 03:01
When I Go All I don’t know, all I don’t show Won’t bother me when I go All my mistakes, all my bad ways Won’t bother me when I go When I go You will be there You will be waiting All I go through, all I hold on to Won’t follow me when I go When I go You will be there You will be waiting With the sun in your eyes Down by the river

Ode 02:24
Ode You are my one true friend You'll be with me until the end Until I'm old and dead and come back again You smile and you shine so bright You guide me all through the night When it's dark and it's cold and there's no moonlight You are my one true friend You'll be with me until the end Until I'm old and dead and come back again I won't mistreat you I'll try to comfort you When you're down and out and feeling blue You are my one true friend You'll be with me until the end Until I'm old and dead and come back again

about

"Maki's voice is supple and soft, blending nicely with the spirited instrumentation. There's a loose, but never sloppy, vibe throughout, reflecting the fact that this is a bunch of friends clearly having a fun time making music together. This is as warming as whiskey swigged around a campfire." - EXCLAIM

"The sweet-singing Sudbury school teacher, who deserves all the apples she gets, preaches and teaches with ragged country honesty and heart." - GLOBE AND MAIL

With aspirations of recording in her basement around one microphone, Maki invited a group of veteran musician friends from Cuff The Duke, The Pinecones, Fembots, and The Minotaurs to Sudbury, Ontario for a couple days of fun in the snow. On December 20 and 21, 2008, during one of the coldest weeks in history, underground and under a full moon, in between saunas and gourmet feasts, the band worked through the songs quickly and effortlessly. Drums, upright bass, guitars, pedal steel, piano, organ, accordion, and harmonized vocals forge the album's full, live sound. More of a reunion than a recording session, MOONSHINE reflects the unexpected and endearing moments that can only come from great players playing great songs.
